Disclosures
We want you to know who is behind Brainwired and what outside interests could shape a conversation, so you can judge it for yourself.
Who runs Brainwired
Brainwired, its episodes and this site are owned and run by PsyZen, Inc. Dr. Burton Tabaac hosts the show.
Psychedelics Anonymous
Brainwired is made in partnership with Psychedelics Anonymous. Psychedelics Anonymous is a brand of PsyZen, Inc., which also runs Brainwired, so the partnership sits inside one company. It isn't a paid sponsorship, and mentions of Psychedelics Anonymous on the show aren't sponsor messages.
Dr. Tabaac's institutions
Dr. Tabaac is a board-certified neurologist at Carson Tahoe Health and a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. On Brainwired he speaks for himself, not for either institution. Neither one has reviewed or endorsed the show.
Dr. Tabaac's outside roles
Rose Hill Life Sciences. Dr. Tabaac is on the clinical development team at Rose Hill Life Sciences, a company dedicated to psilocybin research, development and clinical application. Every episode so far touches on psilocybin, so this role is noted on every episode's entry on this site, and we're adding the same note to each video description and the podcast show notes. When an episode discusses Rose Hill's own work, he also says so in the episode itself.
If any of his roles change, we'll update this page.
Guests
Guests aren't paid to appear, and they don't pay to appear. Guests often talk about their own books, research, companies or programs. Before recording, we ask guests about relevant financial interests and note them in the episode description.
Earlier sponsor message
The original episode videos on YouTube, which this site plays, were recorded when the show was called The Zero Hour, and they include a sponsor message for Forest (ForestBars.com), a maker of mushroom-infused chocolate. That sponsorship has ended, and Brainwired is paid nothing for it. We're removing the message from all 12 videos, so you may still hear it in some of them until that work is done.
Sponsorship standards
Brainwired has no sponsors right now. If we take sponsors, these rules apply:
- Aligned, science-first brands only. A sponsor's claims must rest on evidence we can check.
- No dosing or sourcing. We won't take sponsors that sell or supply illegal substances, or that offer dosing or sourcing help.
- No cure claims. Sponsor messages never say a product treats, cures or prevents any disease or condition.
- Said out loud. Every sponsor message is announced as paid in the episode itself, not only in the description, and kept apart from the conversation.
- No editorial say. Sponsors have no say over guests, questions, editing or what anyone says on the show.
- No medical endorsements. Dr. Tabaac won't present a sponsor's product as medical advice or as a doctor's recommendation.
If we ever use affiliate links or accept free products, we'll say so in the episode and right next to the link.
